FAQ

How much does the Miner class cost in Drill to Earth's Core?
Miner costs 100 Cores, making it the cheapest class in the game. Every other class starts at 3,000 Cores, so Miner is effectively the mandatory first purchase — its pickaxe income is what funds the rest of your roster.
What does the Miner class do?
Miner increases pickaxe damage and ore income. Level 1 gives +50% pickaxe damage, Level 2 adds a 25% chance to deal +300% pickaxe damage, and Level 3 doubles the Coins you get from selling ores and bars. The Level 4 team bonus adds +25% pickaxe damage for the whole server.
How do I unlock Miner Level 2?
Level 2 requires mining 100 Coal and 25 Diamonds. Coal is everywhere from the Grass Layer down, while diamonds start appearing deeper — so the requirement is a depth check as much as a mining one.
Is Miner worth keeping after buying other classes?
Yes, for income runs. Its Level 3 doubles ore and bar sale prices, which stacks with the Mechanic's scrap bonus. Players who have moved on to Driller or Lucky Looter still switch back to Miner for dedicated mining trips.

What Miner actually does

Miner is the 100-Core class, and it is the only cheap unlock in Drill to Earth’s Core. Everything else starts at 3,000 Cores. That price gap tells you what the developers intended: you buy Miner first, and its pickaxe income pays for whatever comes next.

You start each run with a Rusty Pickaxe and Miner Armor, so you are not empty-handed at depth zero.

If you have not spent anything yet, the beginner guide walks through your first hour, and the all classes page has every price in one table.

Level by level

Level Unlock What changes
1 100 Cores +50% Pickaxe Damage
2 Mine 100 Coal, Mine 25 Diamonds 25% chance to deal +300% Pickaxe Damage
3 Smelt 50 Iron Ore, Smelt 25 Gold Ore Ores and Bars sell for +100% Coins
4 500,000 m career total depth Team bonus: +25% Pickaxe Damage for the whole server

The Level 2 proc is the one that changes how mining feels. A flat +50% is nice; a one-in-four chance to hit for quadruple damage is what actually shortens the time you spend swinging at an ore node. In practice it means diamond and ruby nodes — the slow ones — come down noticeably faster.

Hitting the requirements

The Level 2 gate is 100 Coal and 25 Diamonds. Coal appears from the Grass Layer down and you will hit 100 without trying. Diamonds are the real requirement, and they only start showing up deeper, so Level 2 is a depth check disguised as a mining task.

Level 3 is different: it needs 50 Iron Ore and 25 Gold Ore smelted. Smelting happens at a Furnace Post, which has roughly a 10% chance to spawn as a structure next to the drill. That randomness is why Level 3 takes longer than the numbers suggest — you need the furnace, not just the ore.

Level 4 gates on 500,000 m of career total depth, the lowest gate in the game. Miner is the easiest class to finish, which is another reason it is the right first buy.

Where Miner fits

Miner is an income class, not a combat one. Two things make it worth returning to after you have better classes:

  • Level 3 doubles ore and bar sale prices. On a dedicated mining run that beats most damage passives for value.
  • It stacks with other economy picks. Pair it with the Mechanic for scrap value, and read how to earn Cores if you are saving toward a 10,000-Core class.

If your runs are ending because the drill cannot break walls rather than because you are poor, Driller is the better 5,000-Core answer. The best classes tier list ranks the whole roster by what each one fixes.
