FAQ

How much does the Scout class cost?
Scout costs 3,000 Cores, tied with Healer as the cheapest class after Miner. Its Level 4 team bonus gates at 3,000,000 m of career total depth, one of the lower gates in the game.
What starting gear does Scout give you?
A Speed Potion, a Scout Chest, an Elite Miner Helmet and a Large Sack at Level 3. The Large Sack is the important one — it raises how much you can carry, which is what makes Scout a looting class rather than just a fast one.
How do I unlock Scout Level 2 and 3?
Level 2 requires using 10 Speed Potions and opening 100 chests. Level 3 requires collecting 1,000 Scrap and opening 250 chests. Both are chest-count gates, so Scout levels itself through normal looting.
What does Scout Level 2 do?
Below 10% HP, Scout gains +50% movement speed. Combined with the base +20%, that is a 70% speed boost in exactly the situation where you need to break away from enemies — a built-in escape button.
Is Scout good for combat?
No, and it is not meant to be. Scout adds no damage. Its value is speed and carrying capacity, which makes it a strong economy pick for chest and scrap runs rather than a class you bring to a boss wall.

What Scout actually does

Scout costs 3,000 Cores and it is the cheapest class for looting runs. It adds no damage at all — its value is movement speed and carrying capacity, and those two together change how much you bring back per descent.

You start each run with a Speed Potion, a Scout Chest, an Elite Miner Helmet and — once you reach Level 3 — a Large Sack.

Level by level

Level Unlock What changes
1 3,000 Cores +20% Movement Speed
2 Use 10 Speed Potions, open 100 chests Below 10% HP, gain +50% Movement Speed
3 Collect 1,000 Scrap, open 250 chests Start each run with Large Sack Boots
4 3,000,000 m career total depth Team bonus: +10% Movement Speed for the whole server

The sack is the real upgrade

Read the level table again and notice what is missing: damage. Scout’s only combat-adjacent perk is the Level 2 escape, and even that is defensive.

What Scout actually sells you is carrying capacity. A Large Sack means more ore, more scrap and more loot per trip, and the base +20% speed means you spend less time walking between nodes. Those two multiply: faster travel plus bigger loads equals more Coins per hour, which is what an economy class is for.

If your problem is that runs end before you have banked anything, Scout is the cheapest fix in the game at 3,000 Cores.

The low-HP escape

Below 10% HP, Scout gains +50% Movement Speed. Stacked on the base +20%, that is a 70% speed boost while you are nearly dead.

That reads like a niche perk until you are in a Mineshaft at 12,000 m with a Watcher chasing you — the Watcher deals instant-kill damage at 25 speed, and running is the only answer. Scout’s escape window is the difference between a death and a rest stop.

It pairs naturally with the Speed Potion you start with, so a Scout can chain potions and the low-HP bonus to disengage from almost anything.

Hitting the requirements

Both gates are chest counts, which means Scout levels itself through the content it is good at:

  • Level 2: 10 Speed Potions used, 100 chests opened
  • Level 3: 1,000 Scrap collected, 250 chests opened

Chests come from structures, and chest tier drives the Core payout — Wooden 1x, Golden 2x, Diamond 5x, Void 10x. A Scout running deeper layers opens better chests, so the class accelerates its own levelling. The Cores guide breaks down the multiplier maths.

Level 4 gates at 3,000,000 m of career total depth, the same as Healer and one of the lower gates in the game.

Where Scout fits

Scout is an economy class, and it competes with two others in that lane:

  • Mechanic — fuel contribution and scrap sale value. Better if your team struggles with fuel.
  • Miner — ore income and doubled bar prices. Better for dedicated mining.
  • Lucky Looter (10,000 Cores) — chest and ore multipliers. The strongest economy class, at three times Scout’s price.

Scout is the cheap option: no damage, no multipliers, just speed and pockets. For a new player saving toward something bigger, that is a reasonable 3,000 Cores — see the best classes tier list for where it sits, and the beginner guide if you have not spent anything yet.
